Chapter 7

Zuri rode in the back of a cab on her way to Gaysha’s house. She was filled with fury; her heart was racing as the adrenaline pumped through her body. Not only had she been jumped by Charisma, Diamond and her crew, she got fired at the worst possible time. She had been stacking and was close to getting back out on her own. Her head was pounding both from overthinking and from the multiple blows she received to the head. Those bitches might have gotten the best of her but she was outnumbered. She made sure she spilled blood on Charisma’s face. She held onto her for dear life, making sure every blow she received she gave it to Charisma twice as hard. A smirk creased her lips at the thought of the damage she caused. Them hoes knew they had to jump me, she thought to herself as the cab pulled up to the curb in front of Gaysha’s crib.

Zuri tossed the driver a twenty and jumped out the car. She immediately felt her muscles aching. “Man, I need a hot tub and a massage,” she said aloud while walking toward Gaysha’s building and ringing the bell. It had been a while since she had a fight so every muscle in her body was feeling the effects. Gaysha offered to give her a key when she first moved in, but she declined. She didn’t want her friend to feel she was getting too comfortable in her spot; it was Zuri’s way of showing she didn’t plan to be there long.

Zuri rang the bell. She couldn’t wait for Gaysha to let her in so she could tell her what happened. She knew Gaysha would be pissed that she got jumped. But she knew she would be happy to know that Zuri whipped Charisma’s hoe ass.

“Who?” Gaysha’s voice echoed through the intercom.

“It’s me Gee,” Zuri replied.

Zuri pushed the door open at the sound of the buzzer and headed up the stairs to Gaysha’s apartment. When she reached the top of the steps, she noticed some bags placed outside of the apartment. The closer she got she began to notice the bags sitting in front of the door all belonged to her. Zuri’s heart sank into her stomach, she didn’t know what was going on or why all her things were sitting outside the door like yesterday’s trash.

“What the…” she uttered just as the apartment door swung open in a haste. “What’s going on Gee? Why is all my stuff out here?”

Gaysha had a blank, empty look on her face and tried her best not to make eye contact with Zuri. She looked disheveled and nervous. Zuri noticed and immediately showed concern for her friend. “Is that a bruise?” Zuri questioned, grabbing Gaysha by the chin and making her face her. “What happened to your face?” she instantly forgot about her stuff being outside the door and the fight at the club. At that moment, all she was worried about was her friend and why her face was bruised.
